What is my background?

I graduated from California Chico State University in 1999 with a BS in Business Administration. I immediately became employed in the IT workforce and became successful in that career path. Three years into my career, I became apathetic, agitated with my life’s achievements, my heart, and my ambitions. I felt there was a bigger calling for my talents here on planet Earth and I wasn’t sure how to go about identifying it.

Since graduating college, I continued a student’s lifestyle by immersing myself in the self-lead studies of health by ways of learning/reading about: foods, diet, human body systems (immune, endocrine, nervous), natural remedies, and ancient and modern theory on medicine.

In 2004, I became a student of, and studied essential oils starting under and accomplished Aromatherapy, Victoria Edwards. Technically, the study of essential oils is referred to as Aromatherapie, a word coined by the French, although I hate to use that because it immediately leads someone to a definition that means essential oils are for smell/aroma only.  So not true! They have qualities that can affect a body in helpful ways which I’ll discuss later.

I studied under Victoria for a year and a half, and became empowered with the knowledge, tools, calculations, and safety of essential oils. I started 5 years ago in my kitchen creating/prototyping new products. I gave my products out as Christmas presents, birthdays, and in general to my friends and family.  My first product was an “ointment” made by infusing several skin healing herbs in olive oil, filtering plant matter, and then adding a couple essential oils to make it smell great, as well as provide additional healing benefits.  That Christmas present was such a big hit, I knew then, I had a talent for creating products that helped people.  Several friends reported that the ointment healed and helped everything under the sun: skin burns (heat/sun), cold sores, chapped lips, dry/chapped skin, bug bites, minor and superficial lesions.  That ointment is one of the more difficult products for me to mass produce and I continue to keep it in my mind for a future release.

A year later, in 2005 I mass produced another favorite product among the friends and family, a lip balm.  This gave me experience in learning about mass production of a product.  For example, calculating a formula and extrapolating using the correct  ratio of ingredients, requesting/defining the quality of ingredients used by the manufacturer, and working with their R&D teams to achieve an uncompromising product quality.

It’s now been 5 solid years of my impassioned interest in health of the human body.  I continue to devour and digest information and documentation of essential oils, the human body, effects of foods and diet, and holistic health (meaning affecting the whole body).

What are essential oils?

Essential Oils (or EO’s) are the oil soluble components of plant matter such as lavender, basil, oranges, rose petals, peppermint,  and the list goes on for several hundred more plant species.  Essential oils are created via different extraction methods such as steam distillation, cold pressed (like the rinds of orange/citrus fruit), and solvent extraction.   For some EO’s it may take several hundred pounds of plant material to produce small amounts of oil.  The oil, as a result of any one of the extraction methods should be considered VERY concentrate, and should be treated with the utmost appreciation and care for its state of potency. You should NOT create any blends without the guidance of an experienced practitioner and safety/toxicity guidelines

Essential Oils have been documented since  the beginning of times (CE/BC) to have positive and healthy effects on the body.  Even the Bible refers to Frankincense and Spikenard. Egyptians used EO’s for several costmetic purposes and mummification –  a major contributor to why mummies have been preserved so well!  And it is said that Cleopatra made Marc Anthony fall in love with her at first sight as her ship pulled into dock.  She had drenched the sails in the natural aphrodisiac Jasmine, as well as adorned herself in the scent!  Beyond smell, EO’s have been documented to combat viral, bacterial, fungal, parasitic microbes and organisms.

These are the qualities of EO’s that Super Body Care embraces in the creation of each and every product, by leveraging the strengths of each Essential Oil’s most prominent characteristics.
